Dereliction of duty: 14 polling officials suspended in Odisha
Bhubaneswar, Apr 19 (UNI) At least fourteen polling officials were today suspended for mismanagement of EVM machines and absence from polling duty during the second phase of election yesterday.
While eight polling officials were suspended by Nayagarha District Collector N Thirumala Nayak, six polling officials were suspended by Bargarh district collector Indramani Tripathy.
Report reaching here said while four polling officials were placed under suspension for not attending the poll duty as many were suspended for mismanagement of EVM and VVPAT machines by the Nayagarh Collector.
The four polling officials suspended including two Presiding Officers and two Sectors. The suspended officers were on duty at the booth No 212 and 222 of Nayagarha, sources said.
The six polling officials placed under suspension by Bargarh district collector Indramani Tripathy included three Presiding Officers and three Sector Officers. The polling officers were suspended after the mismanagement of EVM and VVPAT machines during polling yesterday.
Sources said, Mr Uma Shankar Panigrahi (Presiding officer) and Manoranjan Panigrahi (Sector officer) of booth No-68 at Baragaha, Priyabrata Sahu (Presiding officer) and Prashant Sethi (sector officer) of booth No-235 at Attabira and Ratam Sethi (Presiding officer) and Pradip Pradhan (sector officer) of booth No-16 at Dovar were suspended yesterday.
