Ghubaya calls on Rana Sodhi at Ferozepur to seek support during LS polls
Ferozepur April 24, 2019: Today, Sher Singh Ghubaya – Congress candidate for LS Polls from Ferozepur – called on Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi, Cabinet Minister – MLA from Guruharsahai one of the nine segments of Ferozepur Lok Sabha constituency, seeking support during the coming Lok Sabha elections.
After meeting Rana Sodhi, Sheer Singh Ghubaya has shared on the social media – Facebook – that Rana Sodhi and his son Hira Sodhi have assured to support him in the LS Polls after forgetting all previous differences.
There had been resentment in certain sections of the Congress workers for giving a ticket to Sher Singh Ghubaya, who had joined the Congress just one month back after leaving the Shiromani Akali Dal where he stands ignored during the last two years of two-terms as MP.
Ferozepur constituency has become a hot seat with fielding of Sukhbir and Ghubaya against each, who had been a decade long association. Congress is trying to cash in on the Rai Sikh votes, which helped Ghubaya to win in 2009 and 2014.
Both are claiming their stakes to win the seat but it will not be an easy task for Ghubaya because of friction within the Congress as is evident from the just a day before the statement in the press by Rana Sodhi, who too was in the ticket race that party may re-consider of giving the ticket to turn-coat.
In the meantime, Ghubaya and Sukhbir Singh Badal had started their campaign in Ferozepur constituency and both are likely to file their nominations in a day or so. In case, all the Congress leaders extend their support to Ghubaya, Congress is likely to win this seat.
