FAZILKA, MAY 3, 2019: Exercising his power under Section 44 of the Cr.P.C. 1973, the District Magistrate-cum-Deputy Commissioner, Fazilka Mr. Manpreet Singh Chhatwal has issued prohibitory order to not to cultivate B.T. Cotton, Corn, Ghawra, Jawar, sugarcane, Sarro, Toria, Suraj Mukhi and other high rise crops between international border and border security fence and also on a stretch of 70 to 100 meters of land on the home side of Border Security Fence up till June 27, 2019.
Order reads that BSF authorities have brought to the notice that some farmers are sowing B.T. Cotton, Corn, Ghawra, Jawar, sugarcane, Sarro, Toria, Suraj Mukhi and high rise crops of height 3 to 4 feet between international border and border fence. "There is every possibility of infiltrators crossing the Indo-Pak border in the shadow of these high rise crops. Hence, there is apprehension of breach of security, so immediate prevention and speedy remedy is desirable", he said.
District Magistrate directed that no farmer would cultivate or sow aforesaid crops between international border and border security fence and also on a stretch of 70 to 100 meters of and on the home side of Border Security Fence.
