MOHALI, May 12, 2019: Taking a dig at the Prime Minister Narendra for making promises which he never intends to fill, senior Congress leader and party candidate from Anandpur Sahab Manish Tewari today said that he (Modi) had perfected the art of lying without any sense of regret or guilt.
Addressing a well attended public rally organised by local MLA and Punjab Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu, here today, Tewari referred to Modi’s promises before 2014 General Elections when he had promised to deposit Rs 15 lakhs in every Indian’s bank account and also generate ten crore jobs in five years.
“Instead of depositing money in your bank accounts, he actually robbed you of your own money”, he told the gathering, while pointing out, how the common man was made to queue up in front of the banks for days together to withdraw their own money and that too just Rs 2000. He said, it was unprecedented in India’s history that people were denied their own money that they could not withdraw it when they needed it the most.
Referring to Modi’s promise of generating two crore jobs every year, Tewari said, what India actually got was loss of about two crore jobs because of the dictatorial and foolhardy decision of demonetization which left the small and medium scale industries closed besides adversely hitting the trade.
Expressing confidence that Congress will form the government at the centre, he said, it would be the best combination for Punjab, as both the state and centre governments will be ruled by the same party and there will be no dearth or difficulty in getting developmental funds. “I promise you that with the support of the Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh, I will change the face of this parliamentary segment with a minimum of Rs 50,000 crore investment during next five years”, he said amidst cheering applause.
He said, he only committed those things, which he was convinced and confident of getting done. “I have represented Ludhiana and you can ask anyone there about my performance and I promise I will do more than what I did in Ludhiana”, he added, while referring to various developmental projects there. “I never make fake promises or false commitments”, he remarked.
