Remembering Shaheed Sukhdev on his 111th birthday at Martyrs’ Memorial Hussainiwala
Ferozepur, May 15, 2019: Sukhdev – who sacrificed his life for the freedom of country, along with Bhagat Singh and Rajguru, born on May 15, 1907, was remembered today on his 111th birthday at Martyrs Memorial Hussainiwala by the district administration in association with Shaheed Bhagat Singh Rajguru and Sukhdev Memorial Society, will full enthusiasm in a simple and impressive way.
The martyrs – Bhagat Singh Rajguru and Sukhdev – had witnessed the brutal atrocities that the Imperial British Raj had inflicted on India who later on joined the revolutionary group, vowing to set India free from the shackles of British dominion. Their execution spurred many youth to take up the revolutionary path, playing a vital role in energizing the fight against the British empire which infused fresh blood in the fight for India’s independence.
Speaking on this occasion, Ranjit Singh, Assistant Commissioner (General) said, we are enjoying freedom because of sacrifices of the martyrs and it is our prime duty to guard the thinking and ideology of the martyrs so that our upcoming generations could improve their lives by taking inspiration from them. He said that the young generation should move forward by taking inspiration from these martyrs' lives. We all also have a duty to educate and put wiser the young generation about the sacrifices of our martyrs.
Dr.Satinder Singh National Awardee, Principal, Govt. School, Gatti Rajo Ke paying floral tributes to the martyrs said, those nations who remember their heritage, have better future. The students of the school were also present on this occasion to pay tributes to martyrs. Pardeep Kumar and Chetan Rana were also present at Hussainiwala.
