Jalandhar, May 21,2019 : Finalizing the arrangements for counting of votes for the Jalandhar Parliamentary Constituency, the Deputy Commissioner cum District Election Officer Varinder Kumar Sharma and Commissioner of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar today said that as per the directions of Election Commission No mobile phones would be allowed inside the counting hall.
Presiding over a meeting here at office of Director Land Records, the Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner of Police said the counting agents of the political parties, counting staff and other officials who would be authorized to enter the hall would not be allowed to carry their mobile phones with them. They called upon the authorized entrants to not bring their phones in the counting hall. They said that the counting staff would have to enter by 6 am in morning whereas the counting agents of political parties have to enter by 7 am.
The Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner of Police said that the entry of candidates, media, counting staff and counting agents would take place from gate of Sports College adding that separate parking spaces have been earmarked for all of them inside the sports college. They said that entry of all these would be allowed only through the valid identity cards issued to them by the administration adding that parking passes for all the stakeholders would also be issued to ensure that they do not face any sort of inconvenience. The officers said that senior officers would observe the entire process from a centralized control room within the DLR office.
