Modi rechristens 'NDA parivar' : Alliance flays Bengal violence, EVM row
New Delhi, May 21 (UNI) Two days before the election results for the big and decisive battle of 2019, the NDA leaders on Tuesday passed a resolution reposing faith in the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and LJP leader Ram Vilas Paswan asserted that 2019 election was a "pure Tsunami" in favour of the ruling combine.
At the NDA meeting here, the Prime Minister said - "Garib hi sabse bara jaati hae (Poverty is the only caste in India and it needs to be addressed)".
"All allies have reposed faith in the leadership of Prime Minister. NDA has now become a pillar of strength to fulfill regional aspirations, " Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh told reporters after
the dinner meeting which was attended by Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray, Akali Dal stalwart Parkash Singh Babal and JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar.
Addressing the NDA leaders in presence of party chief Amit Shah and others, Prime Minister said - "NDA is now an organic entity. It is more than an alliance and is like a family".
Briefing reporters on the meeting, Mr Singh said in his address the Prime Minister said 'pahele se NDA aur majboot hua hae (NDA is stronger today than what it was)'.
The alliance leaders slammed opposition parties for raking the EVM row and Mr Rajnath Singh called it "raising of unnecessary issues".
"The NDA leaders said questioning the EC integrity was a matter of concern," Mr Singh said.
'NDA fulfills the dreams and aspirations of the people and has stood firm on the issue of national security, it has been successful in leaving its mark,' he said.
'In the meeting Prime Minister gave a call for drastic change in national polity and it's narrative aid that the poor was the only caste in India,' said Mr Singh.
The leaders flayed the violence which took place in West Bengal during elections, he said.
A resolution was adopted on the occasion and it was moved by Mr Paswan and supported by all NDA leaders.
'2019 general elections were Tsunami in favour of the NDA,' said LJP chief Ram Vilas Paswan.
Mr Modi and Mr Shah held the crucial meeting with top NDA constituent leaders to chalk out strategy on possible outcome of the general elections.
Mr Paswan lauded the manner Prime Minister carried along all the alliance partners during last five years.
The NDA resolution also said that in May 2014, the alliance government took office at a time when the entire nation was plagued by corruption, policy paralysis, crony capitalism and economic
stagnation.
"Public confidence in the then government was at an all-time low. From the palpable gloom at that time, during the last five years of the NDA government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India rapidly transformed into a land of opportunity, hope, growth and good
governance," it said.
It further said - "The NDA family congratulates PM Modi and the Council of Ministers for successfully
running a development oriented, pro-people and inclusive Government that has taken historic decisions in public and national interest".
The NDA family takes great pride in the fact that the Central Government under PM Modi has worked at an unparalleled speed and scale to empower crores of Indians, the resolution said.
"Today, it is globally recognised that India is mitigating poverty faster than ever before," the NDA leaders said.
"In the last five years, every Indian has got a bank account thanks to the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana. This landmark drive led to numerous other benefits such as social security and pension schemes to directly reach the intended beneficiaries".
The resolution strongly condemned the "culture of political violence" in West Bengal and Kerala.
"We are equally concerned with the systematic assault by the opposition on institutions ranging from the CAG, Election Commission and Judiciary to the Police and Armed Forces" it said.
