Jalandhar, June 18, 2019: In its drive to tighten the noose around the illegal autorickshaws plying on city roads, the Transport and Police department, Municipal Corporation on Tuesday challenged seven auto rickshaws and impounded five auto rickshaws for flouting norms.
The joint team was led by Secretary Regional Transport Authority (RTA) Dr. Nayan Jassal and Assistant Commissioner of Police Mr. Vaibhav Sehgal which carried out special checking of the auto rickshaws in Guru Nanak Mission Chowk.
During the inspection they checked their documents of auto rickshaws. Following which the team challaned seven and five auto rickshaws for violation of various traffic norms without the relevant documents, without driving license, those plying in an area outside permissible to them and others
The team also collected a fine of Rs 30000 on the spot.
Both officers said that this drive would continue in coming days also and anyone found violating the norms would not be spared at any cost.
They also said that strict action would be taken to stop the violation of traffic rules on one hand and the streamlining the movement of traffic in the city on the other.
