Life imprisonment for sacked Gujarat-cadre top cop in custodial death case
Jamnagar, June 20, 2019: The Jamnagar court today sentenced life imprisonment to sacked Gujarat cadre top cop in custodial death case.
Sanjiv Bhatt, ex-Gujarat IPS officer, who took on Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the Gujarat riots was sentenced to life imprisonment today in a 30 year old case of custodial death.
Sanjit Bhatt is presently in custody for alleged drug planting case from 1996 after the Supreme Court denied his petition to examine more witnesses.
While posted as Addl Supdt of Police in Jamnagar District in 1989, Prabhudas Vaishnani had died in hospital after his release one of approximately 150 people were detained during a communal riot.
