RBI : Deputy Governor resigns 6 months before term ends
Delhi, June 24, 2019: Taken as a surprise move, Deputy Governor of Reserve Bank of India, Viral Acharya has resigned six months before the scheduled end of his term in office.
He is likely to go back to New York University Stern School of Business in August. He joined the RBI in the end of 2016 for a period of three years.
Acharaya had also spoken about the independence of the RBI as interference by the Government go agaisnt its functional autonomy and was in headlines in the media.
Added here, Urjit Patel, RBI Governor had also quitted a few months later.
