Prisoner escapes from police custody while being taken back to Jail
Ferozepur, June 24, 2019: In what appears to be a case of negligence from the police, a prisoner who had been taken to Muktsar after a court hearing, escaped from police custody today.
The accused has been identified as Jagbir Singh of village Dasuwal police station Valtoha District Amritsar facing trail in a case registered on 2.10.2018 under Section 353 of IPC - Assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty. As per the information, the accused is facing number of other cases also and was said to be a repeat offender.
While the police officials were taking him back to Ludhiana after appearing in the court at Muktsar, four armed persons managed to escape the prisoner from the custody of police, managed to free from the police custody.
This is not the first time that such an incident has occurred, there had been number of such cases when under trials had escaped from police custody while being brought back after appearing in the court.
