Jalandhar, July 11, 2019: The Additional Deputy Commissioner Mr. Kulwant Singh, who was currently officiating as Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar, today called upon the ex-servicemen to come forward for wiping out the curse of drugs from the Jalandhar district.
Addressing the gathering after flagging off anti-drug bike rally organized by Ex-Servicemen welfare association under Drug Abuse Prevention Officer (DAPO) program from here today, the Additional Deputy Commissioner, whilerecalling the stellar role of Armed forces in preserving the unity, integrity and sovereignty of the country, said that Ex-servicemen have given prime of their youth to country while serving it. Mr. Kulwant Singh said that Ex-servicemen upheld the glorious tradition of remaining on the forefront for defending the unity and sovereignty of the country besides guarding its borders while performing their duty.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner said that the ex-servicemen, who have served the country in Armed forces, have a real zeal for serving the country which could be instrumental in wiping out various social maladies like drugs being confronted by the society. He said that it was really proud moment for them to witness Ex-servicemen taking part in this rally which aims to make Jalandhar a completely drug free district. Mr. Kulwant Singh said that it was the need of hour that everyone of us join hands to effectively combat this menace.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner said thatDAPO was one of the ambitious initiatives of the state government which aims at eliminating the drugs from the state with the active support of people. He said that said that this was first of its kind initiative by the Captain Amarinder Singh led state government to check the demand of drugs through mass mobilization. Mr. Kulwant Singh solicited the support of every section of society for this noble cause.
Earlier, Assistant Nodal Officer DAPO Mr. Surjit Lal and President of Association Captain Gurmail Singh welcomed the Additional Deputy Commissioner.
