CHANDIGARH, JULY 17, 2019: Indian qualifier Ramkumar Ramanathan's progress was terminated by fourth seed Ugo Humbert of France who registered a straight sets 7-6 (5), 6-0 verdict in the second round of the $583,585 ATP Tennis Tournament on grass in Newport, Rhode Island on Wednesday.
Ugo Humbert and Ramkumar Ramanathan fought an even battle in the first set which was decided in favour of Humbert in tie-breaker by 7-6 (5). Humbert then went on to pocket the second set without dropping even a single game at 6-0.
The French player won 74 per cent (29/39) on first service and 53 per cent (10/19) on his second service. Ramkumar won 65 per cent points (22/34) on his first service and 47 per cent (9/19) on second service.
Ramkumar could save a lone break points out of five and won one out of two break points that came his way. Ugo Humbert saved one out of two break points and won four out of five break points which tilted the balance in his favour. Ramkumar earned $ 9820 and 20 points.
