Ludhiana, July 18, 2019: To stop electricity theft, Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) teams conducted a number of raids today in different localities under the Ludhiana East circle, Ludhiana West circle, Ludhiana Sub Urban circle and Khanna circle in which premises of 6160 consumers were checked. Out of these, 279 consumers were fined for power theft and other violations of the electricity Act and a total amount of Rs 44.73 lakh was collected.
Giving this information, Er DPS Grewal, Chief Engineer Operation Central Zone, PSPCL, said 52 consumers were fined Rs 12.33 lakh in East circle, 130 consumers were fined Rs 9.83 lakh in Suburban circle, 74 consumers were fined Rs 17.74 lakh West circle and 23 consumers were fined Rs 4.83 lakh in Khanna circle.
He added that premises of 1634 consumers in East circle, 1876 consumers in Suburban circle, 1057 in West circle and 1593 consumers in Khanna circle were checked.
PSPCL has appealed to all consumers to help in eradicating the menace of electricity theft by providing information about people who are indulging in power theft.

Grewal said camps were organised today in Suburban circle Ludhiana and Khanna circles for regularisation of AP connections. He said that 261 consumers have applied for load extension in both circles. PSPCL recovered Rs 40.50 lakh on account of service charges for extension of 261 AP connections.
He said that under Khanna circle various camps were organised in Sirhind, Doraha, Khanna and Amloh. Besides this, under Suburban circle different camps were organised in villages under Lalton Klan, Adda Dakha, Raikot, Jagraon, and Ahmedgarh divisions.
