Mohali, August 16, 2019: “India is celebrating its independence by snatching independence of others,” laments a Kashmiri girl from Srinagar, who is here for an audition with a TV channel.
She has been unable to call her kin back home for the last 11 days because of the total clampdown on communications enforced by Government of India since August 5, when Article 370 was abrogated in Jammu and Kashmir.
The girl, whose name is being withheld to protect her privacy, expressed her feelings on social media, saying there is no news from back home as mobile, landline and internet connection has been cut and there is no news forthcoming as to when the services will be restored.
She asked the Indian government to have mercy on Kashmiris who are living in other parts of the country and restore communication with Jammu and Kashmir.
“The pain we are carrying since last 11 days is unbearable now! Communication restrictions should be lifted up now!! Enough is enough!!! We are dying to hear our parents, sister, brothers voice Have mercy on us..!” the young Kashmiri girl posted on Facebook.
