Jalandhar, August 19, 2019: Keeping in view the alarming situation due to release of 2,40,000 cusec of water from Ropar headwork, the Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma and Senior Superintendent of Police has ordered the stationing of companies of National Disaster Relief Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Relief Force (SDRF) at vulnerable points in Shahkot, Nakodar and Phillaur.
The Deputy Commissioner and Senior Superintendent of Police, who inspected the level of water at Phillaur bridge and at village Danewal in Shahkot, said that 50 expert swimmers and divers of NDRF has been stationed at Shahkot.
Likewise, they said that 42 expert swimmers and divers of SDRF has been stationed at Nakodar Sub Division. Both the officer further said that if the need arises company of NDRF would be pressed into service from Ladowal for Phillaur Sub Division.
Likewise, the Deputy Commissioner said that Army authorities have also been requested to station their companies at all these Sub Division so that they could help the administration in case of any need.
They said that rescue centers have been established for evacuees in every Sub Division where requisite provisions of food and shelter have been made.
Both the officers further said that medical teams have been deployed at all the centers for the treatment of the evacuees.
The Deputy Commissioner and Senior Superintendent of Police further said that every effort would be made to ensure that the evacuees and villagers were extended a helping hand in this hour of crisis.
They said that all the required arrangements for the fodder of animals in this urgent situation.
Both the officers said that he along with Additional Deputy Commissioners would personally supervise all the arrangements to tackle floods.
