Vigilance Bureau nabs ASI accepting Rs 8000 bribe in Moga
MOGA, August 20, 2019: A team of the Vigilance Bureau on Tuesday, nabbed an assistant sub-inspector (ASI), Jagsir Singh of Police Station Badni Kalan while accepting a bribe of Rs 8000 for settling a complaint in the favour of complainant Sukhdev Singh, a resident of village Burj Duna in Moga.
Divulging the details, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP Vigilance) Harjinder Singh said that Darshan Singh, a resident of village Burj Duna had filed a complaint against complainant Sukhdev Singh, which was pending with the accused ASI Jagir Singh.
The complainant apprised the Vigilance Bureau that the accused ASI Jagsir Singh had demanded Rs 10,000 to dispose off the complaint in his favour and after negotiation, the accused ASI agreed to dispose off the complaint with a bribe of Rs 8000, said DSP Harjinder Singh, adding that the complainant after sealing the deal approached the Vigilance Bureau and revealed the whole incident. After receiving the complaint from Sukhdev Singh Vigilance Bureau team laid a trap to nab the accused ASI red-handed.
DSP Harjinder Singh said that the Vigilance Bureau has successfully nabbed the accused ASI, while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 8000 as promised by the complainant.
Meanwhile, the case has been registered under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act at the Vigilance police station.
