August.21, 2019: The district level senior Citizen's Day was celebrated at Old age home Bassi Pathana by Citizen's Welfare Trust Bassi Pathana in collaboration with District Legal Services Authority Fatehgarh SAhib. Gurpartap Singh, Chief Judicial Magistrate cum Secy. Legal Services Authority was the chief guest; where as Sunil Raina President of the TRust presided over.
Addressing the gathering Gurpartap Singh, Chief Judicial Magistrate said that Senior Citizens are assets of the society and the progress of any Nation is not decided only by GDP and per capta income rather how we treat out senior citizens. He called upon the youths to respect and obey their parents and elders as they have vast knowledge.
He briefed the Senior Citizens about their legal rights and the free legal aid being provided by Govt. to defend them in courts. He said if any senior citizen faces any problem he can contact free legal Service Authority any time and all short of help will be extended. He briefed them about the Loak Adalat concept and its benefits. He said that all pending cases of any court in India by way of compromise and other mode of alternative disputes resolution mechanism such as mediation, conciliation and arbitration are taken up in Loak Adalat.
On this ocassionj Jagdish Singh Johal SDM Bassi Pathana, Subhash Sood President DCC, Ravi Harjiwan Singh Advocate, Sunil Raina President of the Trust and Nakesh Jindal Secretary of Senior Citizen's Association also addressed.
