Reviews situation in flood affected villages of shahkot With MLAs and officers
Reiterates commitment of captain government to bail out people in this hour of crisis

Lohian (Jalandhar), August 21:Revenue Minister Punjab Gurpreet Singh Kangar today said that the state government would duly compensate the farmers of Shahkot Sub Division for their loss after a special girdawari (surveyorship) to assess the damage caused to the paddy crop.
The Minister, accompanied by MLAs Rana Gurjit Singh and Hardev Singh, conducted a whirlwind tour in the boat to assess the loss of crop to the farmers. He said that the state government was committed for bailing out the farmers of the region from the crisis. Kangar said that roughly crop spread over 30,000 acres in the Sub Division has been destroyed due to the breach in river Satluj.
The Minister said that the Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has already asked the Deputy Commissioner to get the losses incurred by the farmers ascertained to ensure adequate and timely compensation for them. He said that the state government was fully committed to adequately compensating the farmers for any losses suffered due to breach. Kangar said that the state government would extend a helping hand to the farmers in this hour of crisis and assure that even a single penny of their loss was fully compensated.
The Minister said that the state government was already carrying out a major relief operation to assure that people do not face any sort of problem. He said that relevant arrangements regarding food, medical teams for people and fodder for animals has already been made. Likewise Mr Kangar said that teams of Army, NDRF and SDRF have already been deployed to extend a helping hand to people.
Meanwhile, MLAs Rana Gurjeet Singh and Hardev Singh Laddi apprised the Minister about the entire situation in wake of floods. They also said that people must exercise restrain as the state government led by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh was committed for well being of every strata of society.
Earlier, the Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma and Senior Superintendent of Police Navjot Singh Mahal informed the Minister about relief measures being carried out by district administration.
On the occasion Principal Secretary Food and Civil Supplies KAP Sinha, Secretary Irrigation Sarvjit Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner Kulwant Singh, Sub Divisional Magistrate Mr Paramveer Singh and Charumita besides other officers were also present.
