The protesters said, the employees retired on August 31, 2014 have not been released the revised pension by the Chandigarh office in the absence any written orders or stay from the court from Chief Commissioner, New Delhi taking the plea that the case is sub-judice. Moreover, there is no written ban by Chief Commissioner New Delhi for giving the revised pension.

They warned the EPF authorities to call the representatives of the Joint Action Committee in the meeting to decide all the pending cases to release the pension.
J S Sekhon, President, Punjab Markfed Retired Employees Association Chandigarh said, the pension from the Provident Fund Commissioner is only the social security for the retired employees as there is no regular handsome pension like government employees in the Board and Corporations. Rather, the authorities should take immediate steps for the revised minimum pension of Rs.18,000 to extend relief to the retirees in view of high inflation in the market.
In case no action is taken, the agitation will be intensified after chalking out a programme in the next meeting of retired employees.
Comrade Kuldip Singh, President, CITU Chandigarh said, we fully support the Joint Action Committee. He also condemned the BJP government in the Centre for making amendments in the labour laws at the behest of the corporate houses for not implementing the minimum pension amount of Rs.18,000.
