Punjab Home Guards and Civil Defence Department launches Health Check up drive for Volunteers
Appointment Letters also hands over to 125 newly recruits
S.A.S. Nagar, September 11, 2019: The Punjab Home Guards & Civil Defence Department has initiated a drive to carry out detailed health check up of all PHG volunteers in the State. The current strength of volunteers is 12537.
The inaugural health camp was inaugurated by Mr. Kultaran Singh Ghumman, Commandant General of Punjab Home Guards at Community Centre, Phase 5, Mohali. The drive is sponsored by HDFC Bank, wherein 150 volunteers were medically examined by Doctors of Various specializations from Grecian Hospital, Mohali. Besides, Appointment letters were also handed over to 125 newly recruited PHG volunteers and monetary compensation cheques were handed over to widows of 9 PHG volunteers, who died on duty. The next Health Camp shall be organized at Patiala in next few days.
Mr. Kultaran Singh Ghumman exhorted the new recruits to serve the society with extra vigour and outlined the benefits of healthy mind and physique. Stressed upon the fitness of volunteers, He further said that this is the key to success in every field as well as in policing. He said that ''we are the visible face in the society, so our role is very much important to serve as role model in terms of fitness''.
Reaffirming the commitment of the Punjab Government's initiative Ghar Ghar Rojgar Scheme, Commandant General of Punjab Home Guards apprised that today 125 newly recruited volunteers gets appointment letters and this initiative will continued in PHG.
On this occassion Divisional Commandant Ferozpur Mr. Charanjeet Singh, Deputy Commandant General Mr. Harmanjit Singh, District Commandant Hoshiarpur Mr. GPS Dhillon, Deputy Vice President of HDFC Bank Mr. Sudhir Gandhi and Assistant Vice President Mr. Jagjit Singh were also present.
