Fatehgarh Sahib. September.20, 2019: During surprise checking of school buses by the District Child Protection Committee and district police 20 school buses belonging to different Schools of the district for violating the High Court guidelines were challaned.
Harbhajan Singh Mehmi District Child Protection Officer said that Deputy Commissioner Dr. Parshant Goyal has constituted a district level committee to implement the "Safe Vahan Policy" in toto in the district and to challan the offenders. He said that the protection of the school going children will be ensured and no school bus or other vehicles violating the High Court directions for school buses will not be spared. He said that all the schools having their own and private buses will have been directed to follow the High Court guidelines by organinsing meetings. He said as per guidelines every school bus must have lady attendant, speed governor, CCTV cameras, first aid kit, fire extinguisher, five year experience and fitness certificate of driver and not a single student more than the seats in buses. He said that if any student suffers any sort of loss during travelling, the legal action will be initiated against the school principal and conductor of the bus. If any bus is found violating the guidelines School Principals will be held responsible and suitable action will be initiated as it is their duty to ensure the safety of school students.
G.S.Sikand SHO Fatehgarh Sahib said that regular checking of school buses will continue and the school heads have been directed to fulfill all the guidelines of the High Court.
