70 KG of Sweetmeats Got Destroyed

Nawanshahr, October 14, 2019: Cracking heavily on the sweetmeat shops, in wake of festive season, district SBS Nagar Food Safety team collected seven samples besides getting destroyed 70 KG of Sweetmeats today.
Divulging details, Manoj Khosla, Assistant Commissioner (Food) said that a Food Safety team comprised of himself and Ms. Sangeeta Sehdev, Food safety officer inspected various sweets shops at Banga and Gunachaur and took 7 samples of coloured sweets and khoya based sweets like pink cham cham, khoya burfi, kalakand, milk cake, rasgula and gulab jamuns. Food team also got destroyed about 70 kg of gulab jamun and pink cham cham which were not fit for human consumption.
Apart from that, four shops were issued improvement notices which were not complying with the parameters laid under food safety act. Mr. Manoj Khosla said checking compaign has been intensified in view of the festival season. Sangeeta sehdev food safety officer said delinquents will be dealt with iron hands as per law. Earlier a special Naka was also set up at Banga to check the supply of spurious food items specially khoya paneer, sweets etc. coming to the district from other states/districts.
