Punjab Police always stands for the well-being of its personnel: SSP
• Pensions and jobs provided to the dependents of 35 martyred of the district
• Tributes will be paid to the martyrs on Police Martyr Commemoration Day on October 21

Senior Superintendent of Police, SAS Nagar Mr. Kuldeep Singh Chahal today said that Punjab Police has always been stand with its personnel in every odd situation and always determined for the well-being of every employee.
In a communiqué issued here, Mr. Chahal said that dependents of the martyred police personnel, who had fought for the restoration of the peace in the region during various operations, have been provided appropriate jobs, pensions to their widows besides due honour to the family members at all government functions. "During the nineties, 35 personnel belonged to district police force had scarified their lives for the sake of peace in the state. These included; 1 Commandant, 1 Inspector, 2 Station House Officers, 2 Assistant Station House Officers, 4 Head Constables, 18 constables and 7 Punjab Home guard personnel", he said, adding that the police department has provided due pensions for the dependents of these martyrs and provided suitable jobs for the next kin.
SSP further said that every year on October 21, the Police Martyr Commemoration Day is celebrated in memory of the martyred personnel. On this day, the families of the martyrs are invited and honored. He said that on October 21, 1959, at Hot Springs, the Chinese army had suddenly attacked Indian police personnel. In this ambush, 10 soldiers were martyred and the rest were captivated by the Chinese army. "From next year i.e. October 21, 1960, the day is celebrated to commemorate these great martyrs besides martyrs belonged to police and paramilitary forces of different states of the country", he said.
Mr. Chahal said that a special commemoration function is being organized in Mohali on October 21 in the memory of martyred police personnel, in which their family members will be honored.
