ECI also extends dates of special summary revision of Photo Electoral Rolls
FINAL ELECTORAL ROLLS WOULD BE PUBLISHED ON 20TH JANUARY
S.A.S. Nagar, October 17, 2019: Date of Elector Verification Program (EVP) and other Pre-Revision Activities including rationalization of polling station has extended up to November 18, 2019 against the previous announced date of October 31, 2019 as per directions of Election Commission of India (ECI) as work under these programmes is going on. It was disclosed by Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Mr. Girish Dayalan.
Mr. Dayalan said that on the directives of the Election Commission of India, the Voter Identification Program was going since September 1, 2019, under which every eligible person can verify themselves and their families as voters by login or registering at www.nvsp.in and Voter Helpline App. He further said that the citizens could authenticate existing details relating to voter verification, by giving a copy of one of the following documents including Indian Passport, Driving License, Aadhar card, Ration Card or other documents approved by the commission. He said that EVP would help in revision of electoral rolls and enrolment of all eligible citizens as voters during special summary revision 2020 by verification or authentication of electors' details.
District Election Officer said that the ECI has also extended the dates for final publication of Electoral Rolls because the Special Summary Revision of Photo Electoral Rolls is under process. He said that now the integrated draft Electoral Rolls would be published on November 25, 2019. The Claims and objections would now be submitted from November 25, 2019 to December 24, 2019 and the process of disposal of claims and objection will go up to January 10, 2020. Now, the date of final publication of electoral rolls is January 20, 2020, he added.
Mr. Dayalan instructed the Booth Level Officers (BLOs) to work diligently to carry out the task of verifying as many voters as possible. He appealed to the public to give full support to BLOs for the door-to-door survey, so that the work could be completed in stipulated time frame.
