District Administration is going to take huge step with the cooperation of Rural Development and Panchayat, Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Department to resolve the problem of paddy straw.
District Administration will store paddy straw in the 'hay banks' and this straw will be used as a fodder for animals.
While conducting meeting with the representatives of gaushalas here today, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori said that proper use of paddy straw is main thing to solve the problem of paddy straw. hay banks would be set up in some gaushalas including Jhaneri and Sangrur.
This straw will be used as a fodder for cattle. Deputy Commissioner gave target to Block Development and Panchayat Officers to bring 50-50 trailers of straw from each block to store in hay banks.
Speaking on the occasion Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development), Rajinder Batra said that the agriculture department and animal husbandry department will also play a significant role for this task. Animal Husbandry Department would provide technical information to the gaushalas for proper use of the paddy straw as fodder.
On this occasion, Deputy Director, Animal Husbandry Department Dr. K G Goyal said that besides the government run Jhaneri Gushala, there are 62 gaushalas in the district.
On this occasion, Chief Agricultural Officer, Dr. Jaswinderpal Singh Grewal said that the government has provided subsidiary machinery to farmers, farmers groups and co-operative societies to tackle the problem of paddy straw.
He said that new applications can be submitted by October 19, 2019 for subsidiary tools. On this occasion DDPO Narbhinder Singh Grewal and BDPOs were also present.
