He said that the BJP, which has boasted of diverted the river water going to Pakistan for the farmers of Haryana, has written only one line about the SYL canal in its election manifesto.
Yadav said that SYL is lifeline for the farmers of southern part of Haryana. But the government has been hanging this issue for years now. He said that the BJP, which claimed to be farmer-friendly, did not even take a step to complete the SYL canal in Haryana in the last five years.
He said that the farmers of Rewari are struggling to get the compensation amount for the crops damaged due to drought. Yadav said that in many villages of Narnaul and Mahendragarh, people are not even getting potable water. Due to drought, people are also craving for drinking water. Yadav said that BJP has sensed the change of power and hence is claiming on water going to Pakistan.
Yadav asked Modi, who has been voicing nationalism, could not resolve the issue by getting the dialogue between various parties to resolve the water dispute between Punjab and Haryana, then why is instigating feelings in the name of bringing water from Pakistan?
State President of Swaraj India, Rajeev Godara said that statistics are showing that 76 percent of the state is facing severe water crisis. Due to the government's indifference towards this, the level of underground water in the state has gone down so much that now it is not possible to draw water from the tube well.
Due to this, farmers are not able to get water for irrigation. The BJP did nothing to deal with this situation in the last five years. The BJP did not even mention the maintenance of the village ponds in the manifesto, which shows how insensitive the government is to the villages and farmers.
State General Secretary Deepak Lamba said that Swaraj India is the only party that puts the interests of farmers at the forefront. Swaraj India, in its Iman Patra, has presented a strong action plan for the welfare of farmers and people living in villages. A target has been set to revive the 15,000 ponds of the state and recharge the ground water level.
Apart from this, it has been targeted to increase the area of drip irrigation area from one percent to ten percent.
