Chandigarh, October 20, 2019: After announcement that online registration for pilgrims who want to visit Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib via Kartarpur Corridor will start on October 20, there was no information available today about the online registration process or the website address where the registration will take place. This development has left many pilgrims disappointed.
Additional Secretary of Home Ministry Govind Mohan visited the corridor on October 16 and had announced that on October 20 online applications of pilgrims will be accepted.
He had also disclosed that a person can apply and get registered only once in a year and if anyone fails to register in first attempt he/she can again attempt for the same after four days.
Babushahi has learnt that the reason for delay behind the launch of the website is that the Indian and Pakistani governments have not yet formally signed the final agreement on Kartarpur Corridor. The issue of $20 fee being imposed by Pakistan is also said to be one of the hindrances which is coming in way of sighing the agreement.
It is interesting to note that along with the failure to launch the registration website, there is also no official confirmation of the date on Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the corridor.
A senior officer of the Punjab government told Babushahi that the date of inauguration is likely to be November 9, but there is no official confirmation from the Centre or PMO.
