$20 Fee insignificant against allowing pilgrims for visiting Kartarpur Gurdwara in Pakistan through proposed corridor, says SAD(A)
Ferozepur, October 22, 2019: While disappointed India is ready to ink Kartarpur pact with Pak on October 23 over levying $20 fee on pilgrims, Kejriwal led government has announced to bear these expenses and SGPC has opposed the charging of fee for visiting Kartarpur Corridor and pay obeisance at the historic shrine, the Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) has supported Pakistan over this fee.
Gurcharan Singh Bhullar, District President, SAD(A) addressing the media persons today at Press Club Ferozepur said, the issue of charging of $20 fee by Pakistan has been raised unnecessarily as it is not on the higher side.
He said, We have no objection over charging of this fee against giving a big gift of allowing the pilgrims on the auspicious occasion of the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev so that pilgrims from India and those holding Overseas Citizens of India Card can undertake visit to the holy Gurudwara Kartarpur Sahib in Pakistan.
Rather, it is a landmark decision taken on this occasion as this will fecilitate pilgrims to visit Kartarpur on the banks of the Ravi River in Pakistan where Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji spent 18 years. It was a long pending demand of the Sikh community for which Navjot Singh Sidhu took the initiative during his visit to Pakistan. It will also help in easing tension between the two countries, he added.
He did not hesitate to point out that Akali Dal is trying to scuttle the project by one way or other but at the same time wants to become a celebrity.
