Chandigarh, October 23, 2019: Vishnu Vardhan of India, pairing with Japanese Toshihide Matsui overcame a stiff resistance from fourth seeded French pair of Sadio Doumbia and Fabien Reboul with a hard-fought 6-3, 7-6(5) victory in the first-round doubles match in the 54,160 Liuzhou ATP Challenger (China) on Wednesday.
Vardhan/Matsui fired four aces and saved two out three break points besides winning two out of three break points in a match which lasted one hour and 27 minutes. They kept their first service 68 per cent in. Vardhan/Matsui won a total of 67 points out of 126
Doumbia/Rebould fired nine aces and committed two double faults while keeping their first service 66 per cent in. They saved one break points out of three and also won one of three break points. They won 59 total points.
Vardhan/Matsui have been next drawn to meet Japanese Kaichi Uchida and American Christopher Eubanks in the second round.
In the singles third round top seed Prajnesh Gunneswaran of India, ranked 90th, will face 239th ranked and 15th seeded Tung-Lin Wu of Taipei.
