Sangrur, November 02, 2019: To curb the menace of stubble burning in district Sangrur two more combine harvester owners have been fined Rs. 2 lakh each by teams of PPCB on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Mr. Ghanshyam Thori. Deputy Commissioner asked the police to impound both harvesters.
Divulging the detail Deputy Commissioner Mr. Thori said that no combine harvester is allowed operating without the Super Straw Management System (SMS) fitted on it. In the case of violation of Section 31-A of Air (Prevention and control of pollution) Act, 1981 fine of 2 lakh each has been imposed to Gurjinder Singh, village Khillrian, district Sangrur and Pritpal Singh, village Dhuri, district Sangrur. Combine of Gurjinder Singh bearing registration number PB13AL-5256 was found operating without functional Super Straw Management System in the revenue estate of village Ladda, tehsil Dhuri, district Sangrur and combine of Pritpal Singh bearing registration number PB13AB-7741 found operating without functional Super Straw Management System at village Ladda, Kothi, Near Basant Valley School, tehsil Dhuri, district Sangrur. These combines shall not be released till the fine amounting of Rs. 2-2 lakhs is deposited by the owners. Mr. Thori urged combine owners to ensure the Super SMS on the combines.
