DC exhorts farmers to refrain from inhuman act of stubble burning
Stubble Burning: 19 FIRs, 150 challans, red entry in land revenue record of 136 farmers in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, November 5, 2019: To implement the instructions of Supreme Court and National Green Tribunal on stubble burning, Chander Gaind, Deputy Commissioner taking cognizance of alarming proportions of air pollution, made an appeal to the farmers to totally stop the stubble burning to save the environment.
Divulging with the details, Chander Gaind, Deputy Commissioner said, a flag march in the hot spot areas was made about stopping the farmers from stubble burning. Besides,19 FIRs have been registered against the farmers despite making an appeal, not to the crop residues in the field, 150 challans under Air Prevention and Control of Pollution Act for Rs.3.50 lacs besides making a red entry in the land revenue record in 136 cases have been made.
He further said a special meeting has been convened on Wednesday with the civil, police and panch, sarpanch to repeat the appeal to totally stop the stubble burning to save the environment and apprise them of the consequences and orders of the Supreme Court.
He said that in wake of the orders issued by the Apex Court the district administration would take severest of severe action against the sarpanch, gram panchayat and the concerned farmer. He said that not only the farmer but even the Sarpanch and gram panchayat would be held accountable in case any incidence of fire comes up in their village.
Gaind warned the perpetrators of this menace that none of them would be spared if any such incidence takes place adding that the Senior Superintendent of Police has been asked to immediately lodge FIR in all such cases.
Deputy Commissioner said, the aim of the government and district administration is not to harass the farmers but at the same time, the pollution caused by stubble burning is fatal to humanity, animals and the entire environment.
He said, that paddy straw burning poses a serious threat to the environment adding that the farmers indulging in this criminal act were stewing thrones before their own family members and coming generations as they would not be able to breathe in healthy air in future times. He said that it was very hazardous for human life also, so all us should ensure that no such incident takes place in our district.
Not only this, he said, the farmers can enhance the soil health and save with less use of fertilizers by stopping the stubble burning.
Deputy Commissioner Ferozepur, Chander Gaind said the process of action against those who violate the instructions, will continue till the harvesting is over.
