Payments worth Rs.23485.35 crore made
1055840 farmers benefit from MSP
Chandigarh, November 14, 2019: With the paddy procurement by the government agencies to the tune of 15231052 metric tonnes as of November 13 in the KMS 2019-20, the procurement figures supersede the paddy procurement by the government agencies on the same date last year which was 14944231 MT, informed an official spokesman of the Government of Punjab.
On the whole the Government agencies and private millers have procured 15332321 metric tonnes of paddy in Punjab till Wednesday while payment worth Rs.23485.35 crore has been transferred to the accounts of arthias/farmers by the government, rendering MSP benefits to 1055840 farmers.
He said that the entire procurement process is going on smoothly with 100% lifting of paddy having been accomplished in six districts of the state including Fatehgarh Sahib, Ferozepur, Fazilka, Muktsar, Bathinda and Mansa, as per the 72 hours lifting norm.
Sharing the procurement statistics, the spokesman said that PUNGRAIN has procured 6319393 tonnes, MARKFED 3911398 tonnes and PUNSUP procured 3104645 tonnes while Punjab State Warehousing Corporation procured 1690743 MT paddy. The Centre government agency FCI has procured 204872 MT while 101269 MT paddy has been procured by the millers.
