Rafale Verdict : BJP holds protest demanding apology from Rahul Gandhi
Ferozepur, November 18, 2019: On a nation-wide call for protest by the Bhartiya Janata Party – BJP, today in Ferozepur also a protest was held demanding apology from former Congress President Rahul Gandhi after the Supreme Court dismissed Rafale review petitions by honouring the verdict of Supreme Court.
The apex court had also warned the Congress leader to be careful in future while dismissing a defamation case filed against him for wrongly linking his ‘chowkidar chor hai’ jibe with court’s judgement.
On Thursday, the Supreme Court had dismissed the petitions for a review of its December 2018 judgement where it stated that there was no occasion to raise a question over the Rafale deal and there was total transparency.
Addressing the protesters, Davinder Bajaj, District BJP President, D P Chandan senior BJP leader said, earlier this year, the then Congress president Rahul Gandhi had carried out a nationwide campaign against the controversial deal to buy 36 Rafale fighter aircraft from France.
They said, the Congress leaders are misguiding the people and tarnishing the image of the BJP party. During the Congress regime, there were number scams on the surface. It’s an honest and corruption-free Modi government as of now.
No doubt, India is a democratic country and everyone has right to speak but at the same time, they should also honour the verdict of the Supreme Court who has given a clean chit to the Modi government in the Rafale case, they said.
