November.21, 2019: The district unit of Indian Medical Association (IMA) has strongly resented the move of district police for registering FIR against the doctor Nisha Sood of Sirhind for conducting abortion. A delegation of the IMA led by Dr. Amanpreet Bawa President of district unit called on SSP and submitted a memorandum to withdraw her name from the FIR. While talking to the media persons Dr. Bawa said that SSP heard their grievance patiently and assured that justice will be done. They presented all relevant documents including consent for conducting abortion.
It is worth mentioning that yesterday the district police on the complaint of one Sukhwinder Kaur resident of Brahman Majra Sirhind had booked her husband and four members of his family and a private doctor for conducting abortion u/s 313, 376, 120-B IPC. She had complained that she is divorcee having a male child and working at Maruti Service Station at Mandi Gobindgarh and solemnised marriage with Devinder Singh Syan divorcee resident of Sirhind also working as RM there and started living in the house of husband with in-laws. She alleged after some time her in-laws came to know about his son and they started torturing her. She said on 9th November her mother in-law, sister in-laws and father in -law started saying she has not married legally with their son and beat her mercilessly, when she started bleeding they took her to one private doctor Nisha Sood at that time she was two months pregnant. She alleged that the doctor gave her injections and next day as she gained conscious, she was told that she has been aborted. She alleged that her in-laws in connivance with doctor got her aborted. She allegedd they threw her out of the house and the residents of the area took her to civil hospital Fatehgarh Sahib for treatment.
When contacted Amneet Kondal SSP, she said that delegation of IMA met her and a three member team led by Navreet Virk SP(H) consisting two DSPs has been constituted to look into the matter for thorough investigation. She said no innocent will be harassed.
