November 22, 2019 - The district police have arrested husband and wife who in connivance mislead the police to grab Rs.9 Lakh which he got as a loan from SBI branch Samrala to purchase the truck by concocting a false story of suicide and recovered Rs.8.5 Lakh from their custody. Addressing the media persons Harpal Singh SP( Investigation) said that one lady Manjit Kaur resident of Samrala lodged complaint with Sirhind police that her husband Hari Singh, who had gone to Patiala to purchase second hand truck along with mechanic Kala and driver Sonu both residents of Sirhind did not came back home as she rang on his cell phone it was switched off. She said on the search they recovered the turban, sleepers and a hand written letter was recovered on 9th November from the bank of Bhakra canal near Floating Restaurant Sirhind.SP said that police party headed by R.S. Kahlon DSP Fatehgarh Sahib started investigation and search for her husband and they came to know that Hari Singh had struck a deal of second hand truck with one Balbir Singh resident of Patiala for Rs.10.35Lakh and gave some advance. He got a loan of Rs.9 Lakh from State Bank Of India Samrala branch and withdrew the amount. As he was going to pay the money to owner along with driver and mechanic he disappeared on the way on the pretext of going to answer the call of the nature and did not came back. After some days his belongings were recovered from bank of Bhakra canal near Floating Restaurant. SP said that police got suspicious and when they interrogated his wife she revealed the truth and both the husband and wife were arrested and loan amount of Rs.8.5 Lakh was recovered. They were presented in the court and send to judicial custody.
