Govt. should honour 14 agreed demands of farmers: Pannu
Rail-Roko agitation by farmers: RPF booked 800 farmers in four different cases
Ferozepur, December 6, 2019: The Kissan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee Punjab has demanded to cancel all the nine cases against 800 protesters - farmers - including the present four registered against under the Railway Act for blocking the four sections of the railways.
On December 3, the farmers have blocked the four sections of the railways blocking movement of 10-25 mail express trains and dozen passengers’ trains and affecting 25,000 passengers due to rail-roko movement by the farmers, in support of their 14 demands already agreed in a meeting with the Chief Minister on March 31, 2019.
Among the major demands - Rs 77 crore balance payments are due to the farmers for sugarcane crop, demanding Rs.6,000 per acre as compensation to those farmers who have not burned the crop residue and withdrawal of all police cases.
Condemning the action of the railway and holding the administration and railways responsible for the inconvenience to the passengers, Satnam Singh Pannu, President and Sarwan Singh Pandher, General Secretary, Kissan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee Punjab demanded immediate cancellation of all the 9 cases on the farmers including the recent four booking 800 farmers-labourers.
Farmer leaders asked the government to honour the commitments made well before the elections.
The railway sources said, the registration of FIRs for blocking rail sections has been done as per law. However, no arrest has been made so far.
FIRs were registered under Railway Act for blocking rail tracks, affecting more than 40 trains.
On Jalandhar Rail Section at Makhu Mallanwala under Section 174 A and 147 A of Rail Act under No.973 on farmer leaders Ranbir Singh, Sahib Singh and Inderjit Singh and 150 unidentified farmers.
For blocking rail track at Bhagtan Wala Railway Stataion in Tarn Taran on farmer leaders Jasbir Singh Pinki, Skhdev Singh, Major Singh and around 300 unidentified farmers under FIR No.3152.
On Amritsar-Jalandhar Rail Section for blocking track between Beas Attari Railway Station on SwarnSingh, Satwinder Singh alongwith 200 unidentified farmers under FIR No.468.
