Amritsar, December 13, 2019: With the increased demand of Punjabi culture and Punjabi songs in Bollywood, Punjab government has decided to setup a Film city near Chandigarh.
The film city will provide the needed infrastructure to Punjabi Cinema and offer desired location to Bollywood producers.The government has initiated the proceedings in this direction.
The above informationwas shared by Mr. Lakhmir Singh, Additional director, department of Tourism and Cultural affair, Punjab while speaking at the seminar organized during the 14th edition of PITEX organized in association with Government of Punjab.
While speaking during the seminar organized on Punjab Tourism: Opportunities and Challenges; he apprised that the state government is spending 215 crore in the current financial to promote tourism and the budget of Rs 227 crore has been decided for the next financial year.
He updated that there is an increase of 27% domestic tourist and 30% international tourist in last two years in Punjab.
Mr. Lakhmir Singh mentioned that there are ample opportunities in the field of medical tourism and religious tourism in the state. The Punjab government is going to offer world class facilities at the upcoming medi city being set up near Chandigarh.
Destinations like Virasat e Khlasa in Amritsar and the upcoming exhibition Centre at Kartarpur Sahib are world class and can attract tourists from India and abroad.
Mr. Harbir Singh Randhawa, Historian, Mr. Pankaj Singh, Co founder Wish life Research and Valuation, Mr.Karanvir Singh Sibia, Chairman, Sangrur Heritage Prevention Society, Mr. Piyush Kapoor, General Secretary, Amritsar hotel and Restaurant Association and many other dignitaries from tour and travel industry interacted with the officials of department of Tourism and Cultural affairs, Punjab.
Mr Karan Gilhotra, Chairman, Punjab State Chapter, PHD Chamber, Mr RS Sachdeva, Mentor, Punjab Chapter, Dr. Ranjeet Mehta, Principal Director, PHD Chamber were also present during the occasion.
