Violent Protests in Delhi, Aligarh on Citizenship Amendment Bill, two Killed, PB CM seeks intervention by PM
New Delhi, December 15, 2019 : Violent protests were witnessed first in Delhi where student of the Jamia Milia Islamia (JMI) university clashed with the police in which two persons were reportedly dead but there is no official confirmation . Later on the reports of disturbance in Delhi, protesters took to streets in Aligarh where students of Aligarh Muslim University were on rampage in the city. It appeared a riot like situation in both the cities.
As per reports from Delhi, students from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) also joined the protests and assembled in large number in Delhi against the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) in the National Capital. Unconfirmed reports said that police was deployed in large number to tackle the situation. A report also claimed that a number of buses have been burnt by the protestors.

At least 26 students, 6 cops sustain injuries in Jamia protest

New Delhi [India], Dec 15 (ANI): At least 26 students and six cops sustained injuries in a protest against the citizenship law outside Jamia Millia Islamia University here on Sunday.
The students were admitted to Holy Family Hospital with minor injuries, while two policemen were admitted with head injuries.
"We received about 26 (Jamia Millia Islamia) university students who suffered minor injuries. Most of them have been discharged now," Holy Family Hospital spokesperson Father George PA told ANI.
He further said that two police personnel were admitted with head injuries. "Maybe due to stone-pelting," he said.
South-East Delhi DCP Chinmoy Biswal has said that a total of six police personnel sustained injuries due to stone-pelting by the protestors near the university.
The Chief Proctor of the university, Waseem Ahmed Khan, has accused Delhi police personnel of entering the campus without permission and harassing students. (ANI)
Meanwhile Punjab Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh in a late night tweet urged the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene in the matter and repeal the controversial law. He said that he was disturbed by the reports of violence in Jamila Milia and he also urged Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and Home Minister Amit Shah to do all it takes to bring the situation under control.
In a report BBC reporter Bushra Sheikh alleged that her phone was taken away by the police and she was manhandled also.
In another report, it was claimed that metro service in Sukhdev Nagar, JMI, Okhla Vihar, Jasola Vihar and Ashram Gate No 3 have been suspended in wake of violence.
