LBSNNA Mussoorie Director Dr. Sanjeev Chopra visits MGSIPA, Punjab
Chandigarh, December 28, 2019: Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration (MGSIPA), Punjab is all set to ramp-up its role for training of IAS Officers drawn from all states of the country at various seniority levels. A final decision to the effect has been taken after the review of the feedback discussed in the meeting by Dr. Sanjeev Chopra, IAS, Director Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), Mussoorie (in the rank of Secretary Govt. of India) with Special Chief Secretary to Govt. of Punjab and Director, General Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration (MGSIPA) Punjab, Mr. K.B.S Sidhu and Director Mrs. Jaspreet Talwar at Institute’s Campus here today. Dr. Sanjeev Chopra had visited districts of Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Amritsar and Patiala and reviewed training programmes of newly recruited IAS officers. During discussion, Dr. Sanjeev Chopra expressed great satisfaction over the academic and field training of IAS trainees deputed in the districts. He said that after interaction with the trainees and Deputy Commissioners of concerned districts, he found that all the parameters of training have been strictly adhered and level of acquisition of knowledge by the trainees is as per benchmark set by the LBSNAA.
The Director of the LBSNA, Mussoorie was also deeply impressed with the successful conduct of 4-week Induction training programme of IAS officers of 12 states at MGSIPA in the recent past which included training, field visit in Punjab and also foreign training in South Korea. He indicated that this was the first of its kind experiment of training with an Administrative Training Institute (ATI) of a state and it will made a regular feature in future with training batch of at least 75 IAS officers in MGSIPA. It is worthwhile to mention here that MGSIPA has successfully completed 4-week training programme of batch of 55 IAS officers from different states by eminent experts of different subjects.
During interaction, Dr.Sanjeev Chopra advised the Director General, MGSIPA to create a Centre of Excellence in any specialized field and LBSNAA, Mussoorie will sponsor training programmes for officers in the institute regularly. He said that the MGSIPA Model will be shown to officers of ATIs of other states for replicating the same in their respective institutes.
Mr.K.B.S Sidhu, Director General MGSIPA, while giving brief about the institute informed the visiting LBSNA Director that Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration has a well-knit infrastructure with smart class rooms, qualified faculty, well-furnished hostel accommodation, indoors sport facilities, sprawling lawns and serene academic environments for the trainees. He said that the further upgradation process of infrastructural facilities is in progress and it will be a unique institution in the country.
