Faridkot, January 21, 2020: Aiming to sensitize the teaching community about Empowernment of persons with Disability and Disability Act, Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration, Punjab, (MGSIPA) Regional Centre, Bathinda organized One-day Training Programme for Principals and Heads of schools of Faridkot District. About 30 participants attended the programme. The experts including Dr. Harish Sharma, Associate Professor, S.B.S. Government
College, Kotkapura and Dr. Vishwajeet Goyal (Ortho), Civil Hospital Faridkot delivered their lectures with presentations. Addressing the participants, they emphasized that learning disability can be over come through right kind of remedial teaching with the help of assistive devices. Besides this, the concept of
inclusive education, legislative framework and behaviour management of specially able children were also discussed.
Mr. Jarnail Singh, MGSIPA Regional Project Director Bathinda, while interacting with the teachers on the occasion said that MGSIPA has undertaken a series of
training programmes to motivate officials of different departments including Education, Health and Social Security to take special measures for upgrading the
lives of disabled children as provided in the Act. He said that training of teaching community in this special field has been institutionalized so that no child with
special needs and disability is left behind in the field of education. He expressed gratitude to the District Administration for facilitating the MGSIPA for organizing
this programme.
Mandeep Singh , Coordinator Regional Centre Bathinda highlighted the objectives of this programme. The senior district education officers also attended the sessions.
