Railways ready to launch ten solar-powered trains
Future of Rail: First solar-powered train to run between Amrisar-Haridawar in Ferozepur Division
Ferozepur, January 22, 2020: The Indian Railways have started giving preference to solar panels on the roofs of the trains, to reduce the increase in burden of electricity and ready to decorate with solar-powered panels on Jan Shatabi Express from Amaritsar to Haridwar which will be first among ten solar-powered trains in Ferozepur Rail Division.
According to DRM Ferozepur Rajesh Aggarwal, we have a target of fitting of solar panels on ten trains by January 31, 2020, and the railway will contribute in saving crores of rupees' expenses on electricity.
He said it will be the first solar-powered train between Amritsar and Haridwar which will also run the electric gadgets inside the trains like fans, tube lights, charger points by fitting alternators system under the coaches and such services will be uninterrupted once the solar panels are fixed.
DRM said railway is proud of its every employee in contributing to run the rail affairs sincerely and honestly with dedication and devotion.
