Ferozepur, January 23, 2020: Giving a fillip to the schemes aimed at making women empowered, Deputy Commissioner Ferozepur Chander Gaind on Thursday announced that all the Anganbadi centres of Ferozepur will soon be provided space for sale counters to the local self-help groups where women can display and sell their products.

Addressing the gathering at district level Lohri function held at Shaheed Bhagat Singh stadium in the honour 151 newborn girl children, Gaind encouraged the women to become self-reliant by creating Self-Help Groups.
He further said that women who are aspirant for doing business, in the district, will be allotted one counter each, where they can sell their hand made goods and other people should learn a lesson and district administration will extend all sort of help.
DC also called on the banks and the concerned government departments to come forward to help these women and contribute to make them self-reliant. He said, the women who do business through the Self Help Group will soon go for training for production of sanitary napkins and they will be specialized by coordinating with the big companies at Delhi and Mumbai.
Anmol Beri-DC for one day also joined the District Level Lohri Celebrations to honour 151 new-born babies.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner, Chander Gaind said, it's a honour for the girls, that Anmol Beri, physically challenged student of Plus Two, who has been declared as Brand Ambassador of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign in Ferozepur District, has presided over as Chief Guest of celebrations of honouring of newborn 151 girl children.
In the programme, 11 pregnant women were also honoured by presenting them, lemon plant, gur and nutritious food. Besides, the services of 12 best Anganwadi workers and 3 Supervisors were also recognized apart from Veerpal Kaur Taekwondo champion. The Lohri ceremony was performed by offering groundnut and ‘til’ to the fire.
Similarly, 5 such families were also honored, who brought up their daughters like sons.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner also had a round of 30 stalls set-up at the Shaheed Bhagat Singh Stadium, by Women and Child Development Department with display of Punjabi heritage accessories, nutritional and home-made products.
The counters established by the District Legal Services Authority, One Stop Center, Municipal Council, Health Department were openly praised by the Deputy Commissioner. The arrangements of counters by District Legal Services Authorities, One-Stop Centre, Municipal Council, Health Department, were highly appreciated by the DC.
In this programme, DLSA Secretary, Amanpreet Singh, Civil Judge Sandeep Kumar, Secretary Red Cross Ashok Behal was also present.
