- All 515 Sewa Kendras To Provide Service Across Punjab
- No Ban on Mini Bus Permits In Punjab Says Taxis Sultana
Nawanshahr, January 27, 2020 - To facilitate youngsters to have hassle free access to the facility of learning license , the Transport Department Punjab has authorised all 515 Sewa Kendras of Punjab for providing the service, said Transport Minsiter Punjab, Mrs. Razia Sulatna here yesterday.
Inaugurating the state wide learning license service through Sewa Kendras from Nawanshahr , she said that earlier it was limited to SDM and Transport Department Offices only. Taking in view the over burdening of work in these offices and problem to the applicants, state government has decided to extend the service through Sewa Kendras under the aegis of Governance Reforms Department, she further said.
She said that State Transport department had issued approximately 5.57 lakh learning and 8.54 lakh Driving licenses previous year. Any one who attains the age of 18 is eligible for learning license. After six months, one can apply for Driving license by clearing driving track test. She said that Punjab has 32 tracks for this purpose.
Responding a media query she said that there was no proposal of state to restore DTO system as we were committed to our election manifesto to ease the transport department work. She also made it clear that there was no ban on allocation of mini bus permits and any one who want to ply mini bus on rural route can apply for the same.
She said that Transport Department is going ahead with IT based applications to make the department more transparent.
Earlier, she paid homage to Dr. B R Ambedkar by garlanding the statue of Dr. Ambedkar situated in the premises of SDM complex Nawanshahr.
She was accompanied by MLAs Angad Singh, Ch. Darshan Lal Mangupur, DC Vinay Bublani, SSP Alka Meena, SDM Jagdish Singh Johal. Officials from NIC Punjab, Technical Director Tarminder Singh, Programmers Mohit Joshi and Atinder Singh were also present to make the service live througout Punjab on this occasion. Transport Minister also handed over five licenses to the applicants on the launching day.
