Fatehgarh Sahib, January.27, 2020: The State Government will ensure 50% reservation for the women in the coming local bodies' elections, besides this an open university on the name of Guru Nanak Dev Ji will be set up in Patiala and a ticket dedicated to 550th Parkash Utsav of Guru Nank Dev Ji will be released, said Brahm Mohindra Minister for Local Bodies, while addressing the District level 71st Republic Day function here yesterday.
Earlier he unfurled the National flag and took the salute from the contingents of Punjab Police, Home Guards and NCC cadets and highlighted the importance of Republic day and how the people were assigned the rights and duties by our Constitution.
He said that due to new industrial policy of the State Govt. the small and medium industry has revived in the State and it also resulted in signing of 46 MOUs worth Rs.762 Crore to be set up in Mandi Gobindgarh town of the district. He said that sewerage project worth Rs. 133 Crore for Fatehgarh Sahib and a Child and Mother Care hospital at the cost of Rs.10 Crore is under construction in civil hospital Fatehgarh Sahib. He recounted various achievements of the Govt.
He laid the foundation stones of two bridges to be constructed on Sirhind Choe at the cost of Rs.2.20 Crore and 100% water supply project for Sirhind at the cost of Rs.8.83 Crore.
On this occasion various tubules depicting the development projects as well as various public oriented schemes initiated by Government were carried out. He honoured families of freedom fighters, police martyr families and prominent personalities, who excelled in their respective fields and handed over 31 sewing machines to needy and tri-cycles, wheel chairs to handicapped. The students from various schools presented an impressive cultural program.
