Over 5000 Police Personnel To Be Recruited Soon In Punjab

Nawanshahr, 27 January,2020 : Under the Moderninzation of Police forces scheme, construction of new buildings of existing 95 police stations is underway in Punjab and for this purpose a loan amount of Rs 150 crores have also been availed from HUDCO, said the Director General of Police, Mr. Dinkar Gupta.
He was here to inaugurate the new building of Kathgarh Police Station in Shaheed Bhagat singh Nagar district. The inaugural ceremony was attended by Mr. M K Tiwari, Managing Director, Punjab Police Housing Corportaion, too.
He said that Police Station Kathgarh has been constructed on a 1.75 acre piece of land at a cost of 1.85 crore .It has been converted into model police station . It is housed in 8000 square feet area as well as equipped with ultra modern facilities for the Police Personnel and waiting area for public. Besides, the whole campus has been landscaped and electrified adequately for ensuring smooth functioning of the police station.
Briefing the media about the modernization of state police, Mr. Gupta said that state police was going to recruit over 5000 police personnel shortly besides technological improvement and capacity building in the police force.
Terming Punjab as the safest state in the country, he said that our force had successfully curbed the gangster culture in the last three years by getting extradition of dreaded gangsters from abroad. There are only three to four dreaded gangsters outside the police net, to whom our teams are trying to arrest, he added. But as the state is a border state, we have to remain vigilant always, he said.
He further said that to curb the glorification of arms and drugs culture in songs, we are committed to abide by the instructions given by the Punjab and Haryana High Court too. Police would hold meetings with the singers and take appropriate actions against the offenders, he added.
DGP Mr. Gupta especially thanked the local MLA Ch. Darshan Lal Mangupur for mobilizing the Gram Panchayat for making the land available for the newly built police station.
He also said that the newly carved districts that don’t have police lines would soon have police lines as efforts are being put to get the land for these police lines. Giving the example of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar and SAS Nagar, he said that Nawanshahr has arranged the land for the new police line and the plan would soon be matured for construction. Similarly, to provide houses to police personnel in Mohali, we are trying to identify the requisite land there.
Prominent amongst the officers present on the occasion were Jaskaran Singh IG Police Ludhiana Range, Deputy Commissioner Vinay Bublani, SSP Alka Meena.
