The story of the Indian Regimental Band that we know today is related to the 300-year-old history of the British Army Band. The Regimental Band specializes in playing tunes using pipes and drums. The Band Display included popular patriotic tunes like “Kadam Kadam Badaye Ja” and “Sare Jahan Se Achha” to instil a feeling of belongingness with the Indian Army
The Indianisation of the band began when British rule was over. Commander-in-Chief Field Marshal KM Cariappa confronted the challenge and laid down the foundation of Military School of Music in Pachmarhi (Madhya Pradesh) in 1950.
Indian Army has a distinct identity in playing military music. The scintillating performance by the Army band mesmerized the complete audience and they cheered to boost the morale of the troops involved in Band Display.
