Washington DC, January 29, 2020: United States President Donald Trump on Tuesday shared maps of Israel and the "future state of Palestine" as conceptualised under the Middle East plan unveiled today at the White House.
The maps show West Bank area containing 15 "Israeli enclave communities" connected to the Gaza strip through a tunnel. Sharing the maps on Twitter, Trump wrote, "I will always stand with the State of Israel and the Jewish people. I strongly support their safety and security and their right to live within their historical homeland. It's time for peace!
“This is what a future State of Palestine can look like, with capital in parts of East Jerusalem," the following tweet read.
The Middle East plan, which was three years in making, establishes Jerusalem as Israel's "undivided" capital and offers a path towards a two-state solution to one of the longest conflicts in history.
Iranian Foreign Minister calls Middle East plan 'nightmare for region'
Tehran: Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif on Tuesday called the Middle East plan unveiled by US President Donald Trump as a "nightmare for the region".
"The so-called 'Vision for Peace' is simply the dream project of a bankruptcy-ridden real estate developer.
But it is a nightmare for the region and the world," Zarif tweeted, adding "hopefully, a wake-up call for all the Muslims who have been barking up the wrong tree.
#LetsUniteForPalestinians" The Middle East plan unveiled by Trump on Tuesday proposes for the creation of a Palestinian state with a capital in eastern Jerusalem and with double the territory currently under their control. At the same time, under the plan, the US would recognise Israeli sovereignty over its settlement in West Bank area, with Jerusalem remaining the undivided capital of Israel.
Palestine has rejected the plan, with its President remarking that his people's rights are "not for sale".
