Three years RI to former LIC Dev Officer and others in Cheating case

New Delhi, February 19, 2020: The Special Judge, CBI Cases, Raipur has sentenced Shri Tuka Ram Chaturvedi, then Development Officer, LIC Satellite Office, Tilda Bhatapara Branch(Chhattisgarh) to undergo three years Rigorous Imprisonment with a fine of Rs.10,000/ Ashwant Sahu, then Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) Agent, Bhatapara Branch, Distt. Baloda Bazar (Chhattisgarh) to undergo three years Rigorous Imprisonment with a fine of Rs.14,000/- and Smt. Uma Sahu @ Asha, then LIC Agent, Bhatapara Branch, Distt. Baloda Bazar (Chhattisgarh) to undergo three years Rigorous Imprisonment with a fine of Rs.10,000/-.
CBI had registered this case on 07.03.2014 u/s 120-B, 420, 467, 468 & 471 of IPC and Section 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of P.C. Act, 1988 against the accused and unknown others. It was alleged that the accused in conspiracy with each other cheated Life Insurance Corporation of India to the tune of Rs.16,10,560/- (approx) through fraudulent death claims and further raised death claims to the tune of Rs.24 lakh/-(approx)
After investigation, the CBI filed a charge sheet on 03.12.2014 against the accused. The Trial Court found the accused guilty and convicted them.
