As part of the campaign launched by the Punjab government against drugs, 40 beded Drug de-addiction cum Rehabilitation center has been established at Desh Bhagat Hospital Mandi Gobindgarh today. Dr Zora Singh, Chancellor Desh Bhagat University inaugurated the center. The drug de-addiction center equipped with all latest facilities, those who are suffering from drug addiction will be treated to get rid of all forms of drug addiction.
Addressing the gathering he said that Drug Addiction (also called substance use disorder) is a brain disease and the addict becomes dependent on the drugs. The addict uses it despite having full knowledge of its harmful effects on health. It is considered a brain disease because it changes the structure and functioning of the brain. All these drugs have their evil effects on the mind and body cells of the addicts. The young generations, particularly teenagers, are the worst victims of evils of Drug Addiction.
Pro Chancellor Dr. Tajinder Kaur emphasized on the importance of Meditation. She said meditative practice and good dietary habits; drug de-addiction process automatically sets in. During meditation, certain hormones are secreted in the body which is responsible for cheerfulness, happiness and increase in tolerance power.
